GuySpy, the location-based gay dating app we may or may not be well-acquainted with, has run into problems with Facebook’s Community Standards before, which allegedly prohibit pornography and explicit nudity. But it seems that those standards don’t apply for everyone. Facebook has a strict policy against the sharing of pornographic content and imposes limitations on the display of nudity.
Then on September 24 they posted this pic to its page only to see it taken down within hours by the Facebook powers that be. While certainly risqué, the kids at GuySpy found that their pic was nothing compared to some of the other content that slipped past Facebook’s ever-vigilant and all-seeing eye.

Facebook may not be homophobic (emphasis on the word “may”), but there is clearly a double-standard here. The man pictured above is more discreetly depicted than Michelangelo’s “David.” There’s nothing “XX” about his picture, certainly not in the league of the photos of naked women that seem to be OK on Facebook. I have nieces and nephews, too — and I’d rather they see a picture like this gorgeous man than some of the so-called “wholesome family fare” that Facebook encourages.
And to claim Facebook is not an “adult” site, means you haven’t read some of the garbage that gets posted there — especially when it comes to the degradation of gay men.
the guy has shaved pubes and looks unfriendly. He also has the look of someone who is barely sentient. I’m glad he was not put before the world as someone who defines gay community.
