A new study, carried out by sexuality researchers at Indiana University, has found that the average erect penile size is exactly 14.15 cm (that’s 5.57 inches). Cleverly, Dr. Debby Herbenick incentivized men to be honest, as she explains on Psychology Today:
Unlike most previous studies of self-reported penis size, [subjects] had good reason to report accurate data to us because we were using their size data to match them to a condom that was sized to fit their erect penis. If they reported a bigger-than-reality size to us, they would get a baggier condom. If they reported a smaller-than-reality size to us, the condom would be too tight.

I blogged about this three days ago in defense of Burl Chester in the vintage Playgirl post for looking small to some. This study just repeats what condom makers have known for years. Also, this study is inaccurate on the point of self reporting as guys from Kinsey up to the year 2000 did over report their size by about an inch…they guessed or fibbed. From 2000 onwards there has been a widely accepted standard for measuring which makes data more consistent. Anytime you want real stats on anything, go to where the money is being made on the subject. Condom makers have to make a real product for a real, not fantasy world, so they stay in business by accurate studies . This article left out their inch range/% breakdown which is more revealing: 5″ range/36.6%; 6″/45.9%; 7″/7.3%; 8″/1.7%; 9″+/0.5%. That puts 82.5% of guys in the 5″ up to 7″ range and 8″ and beyond rare. Perhaps even more important is the international study by ‘Men’s Health’ where 79% self-described themselves as “growers”. The average guy hangs 3.5″-4″ flaccid. So this rejecting guys at first glance for looking small is just stupid. Most guys, no matter what they look like upfront at first, land up being about the same when it counts. Besides, getting each other to that point is part of the excitement. The size queens lose out on a lot of hot guys with their shallow thinking.
