Local10 News reported Nov 18 that Squirt.org’s “Non-Stop Hookups” bus advertisement campaign had stirred up the local community in Miami, Florida. The ad, a promotion for the Squirt gay dating site, shows two shirtless men embracing along with the site’s tagline, “Hot ’n horny hookups,” and the campaign slogan, “Non-Stop Hookups.” The ads were placed near popular gay clubs and establishments in Miami, including Eros Lounge, Magnum Lounge, The Dugout, Club Azucar and Club Aqua Miami. The ad’s creative content went through the usual rigorous approval process.

The report says a mother complained to the City of Miami about the ad. Soon after the ad went live, Pink Triangle Press (PTP), the operator of Squirt.org, was informed about the complaint and asked to provide updated creative without the tagline “Hot ’n Horny Hookups” and the words “Non-Stop Hookups.” PTP provided an updated version and the new creative was approved. Meanwhile, the ad was vandalized, stolen and never replaced by the City of Miami.

When Squirt.org asked when the updated creative would go live, its ad distributor replied that the case had become “too political” for the City of Miami to touch.

Squirt.org’s creative was approved and we just want to have the same treatment as any straight sexy ad would have. Lots of straight-themed ads are as sexy as ours: look at Step up revolution, Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Guess, Viktor & Rolf and Calvin Klein ads. If these ads can be on streets across America, we don’t understand why two men embracing cannot.

  1. I agree with the mother. It’s bad taste. That doesn’t mean the Kors,Ford and CK ads aren’t too. I think it should be taken down. Let’s be honest, it’s not what the ad portrays but what it’s selling.Your not selling underwear or clothing, your selling your site that is exclusively geared toward we gay men who are looking for other guys mostly for recreational sex. I don’t see the need for public advertisement.Get over it.

  2. As much as it damn near pains me to do, I don’t agree it’s in good taste. Besides, I don’t care where you post this in the open, minors have an easier time finding the site.

If Squirt were a dating site, great. Guys are here with the sole purpose of either getting laid or cruising/keeping up to date with the scene. The other ads, no matter what the sexuality or overtones, they’re not selling direct sexual connections. Squirt is selling cocks, ass, and such. Sex sells…but this is almost like Squirt is selling sex.

I’ve seen a few postings on bathroom walls in public directing guys here. A Google search will lead you here. Not everything we do has to be broadcasted. I kinda do like a bit of privacy here. Yes, my cock is displayed for countless thousands to see, but there’s still some anonymity intact.

Not in favor of the open ads or the Facebook page. Men found their way here well before Social Media. Advertise in bathhouses, video stores, pride events, etc. there’s no need for ads. Instead of ads, I’d rather see money going to Squirt to fix issues such as the dreaded message of posting too quickly which is still happening.

  3. Just needs better wording. The other ads don’t have any sexual language and just have the business name and website.

  4. Yes, I’m sorry, I’ve got to agree with rocketjay and mikey. In my opinion it really is unnecessary to advertise squirt.org (or any hetero sex hookup site for that matter) at a public bus stop in full view of minors. The other ads are a bit risqué too, but they are selling clothes and fragrances.

Ads in the men’s bathroom at overage venues, video stores etc, – go for it. But if it’s advertising hot gay men or horny housewives – well it’s just not necessary, and only inviting a needless backlash.

  5. I too think that the squirt ad is not really appropriate for a public bus stop. Nor, are straight dating/hookup site ads either.

And holy cow, how does Tom Ford get away with a bare ass on a public billboard? That’s hot but common on. Where’s the campaign to take that down? How is that not obscene/porn?

The other two ads are pushing the line a lot but at least it is for a product and some clothes are on but they are, imo, raunchy ads nonetheless because you have virtually naked people touching in public view.
