  1. I love vintage shots like this. What is wasn’t was all plastic Ken doll types with all those fake poses, and mainly centering on the size of one man’s manhood. Big cocks don’t make hot men.

  2. The free glory days. So many hot men……….I miss Jock, Torso and Men mags so much, thanks for bringing them back.

  3. @cartp2: #1 is Dirk Shafer who just passed away at 52. 11/7/62-3/5/15. He was a fitness instructor here in WeHo and the found him dead in a car near his house. The autopsy concluded it was a combo of meth and coke aggravated by hypertensive cardiovascular disease. He was defiantly gay, but tried to keep up a straight image for much of his younger years. He rose to fame with Playgirls ‘Holiday’ issue 1990, followed by his big centerfold/ Man of the Year shoot for Playgirl 1992 and a 20th anniversary reprise in 2012.

Always stunningly handsome for his age, you’d see him around town and at some of the restaurant/bars around Boystown. Very approachable, his voice deepened with age, one sexy daddy! From friends that knew him better, he never seemed to know himself. His Playgirl shoot was to confirm he was good looking to himself. He grew up in a closeted world where his main selling point was to be a female heartthrob like Hudson. This being torn between his straight public persona and his gay self never got fully resolved and probably tied to his drug use. His fitness business was doing well and I knew some of those clients. Cool dude gone too soon….

  4. @behairy, you’re incredible! Thank you very much for schooling me, I was so interested in #1 that I had to know more, and you’ve done just that, you’re quite amazing behairy! Thank you for that backstory, it’s a tragic one but I do love learning more about how people in the industry cope with the image they present to the public, not that I’m aspiring to be one, it’s just very intriguing. The façade has to be the worst part, I remember how miserable I was all those years when I claimed I was straight, it’s so much more freeing to be out…I still need to find the right man but it’s better to be honest, lol! =)

  5. He died quite recently too, so sad, he was truly breathtaking, and was getting better and better with age, like a fine wine.

  6. Thanks for the reminder of when we were Young and Beautiful (well, I was young, but I don’t think I’d ever have passed for Beautiful LOL)
