Some highlights from David Toussaint’s piece on GUY SPY:
Randy Roberts Potts, like his legendary grandfather Oral Roberts, is on a mission. The 37-year old, divorced father of three, came out in 2005 and spends his time speaking about homosexual acceptance. He’s also in the midst of writing a memoir, which is on its way to off-Broadway for a fall opening.
“Homosexuality and the Bible have never mixed in the eyes of Evangelical Christians. It comes from a deep-seated prejudice. They can’t relate to it, like you and I can’t relate to sleeping with a girl; it’s a little gross. There’s a natural prejudice they have to overcome.”
Watch Pott’s “It Gets Better” above.
“My main audience grew up Evangelical,” says Potts. “They grew up very closeted, still raising their kids not to be gay, that kind of thing. Talking to a group of liberals on the East Coast is fine, but they probably already agree with me. I’d rather find a way to reach people on the fence, so I use the Bible more than I normally would. We can save a lot of kids’ lives.”
