The garden, the swimming pool and the bubbling Jacuzzi are ideal for flirting with your fellow naked guests. If you prefer a different setting and a chance to meet more naked men, Playa Chihuahua, the nude beach, is only a couple blocks away. The gay section is a hundred metres south of the main beach.
What is the Best Time to Visit Playa Chihuahua?
I took my trip during February, and the Atlantic Ocean was chilly when I took a quick dip (the South American summer), but the warm sand of the dunes was inviting, and every hollow was a nest for naked men. Undarius is 15 kilometres west of Punte del Este, Uruguay’s sophisticated beach resort. It is 120 kilometres from Montevideo, the nation’s capital and largest city. The coastal highway makes getting there quick in your rental car, or you can ride buses to the nearest stop along the road.
The resort is a quarter kilometre down from the highway. Taxis are scarce in this area, so either be prepared to walk the short distance or arrange a taxi in advance.

What Are Some Fun Gay Vacation Attractions and Activities Near Undarius Gay Hotel?
Nearby, Punta del Este is a beach town with high-rise hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, casinos and museums. You can take a boat tour from the harbour to view whales and sea lions. For surfers, the waves can get gnarly, and lessons, boards and wet suit rentals are available for those who like to make a splash.
In the area, you can also see the eccentric Casapueblo museum, once the studio of artist Carlos Paez Vilaro. Or, you can tour a local vineyard and taste uniquely Uruguayan “Tanic” wine, among other varieties.
Plus, visit Piriapolis, a Victorian beach town with a grand hotel and casino set on a sheltered bay where the water is warm enough to enjoy a swim.
You can hike or bike to Chihuahua Beach, among the lagoons and pine forests, closer to the resort. Watch for whales and see the many species of birds in this rich coastal ecosystem.

Uruguay is a small country with many attractions, and the guys at Undarius are there to help. “There are many options in the season for tourists, and we can advise them, of course,” said Fran. “We are both from Spanish-speaking countries but also understand English, French, Portuguese, Catalan and Italian.”
During my trip in February, my travels included stays in Montevideo (which does feature a local gay sauna named Toronto Sauna [not to be confused with the Canadian capital]). I also checked out Buenos Aires on the opposite side of Rio de la Plata; the ferry ride is close to four hours, easily connecting you to this major Argentinian city; this “Rio” is more like a sea than a river, and fast ferries connect the two cities.
Both cities of Montevideo and Buenos Aires offer lots of attractions like colonial architecture, high-rise business and shopping districts, museums, soccer and polo stadiums, plus tours to nearby vineyards, visits to ranches (estancias) for horseback riding and barbecues with the gauchos. Also, both cities have great gay nightlife, such as Chains Pub, a popular gay bar in the center of Montevideo.
Also, Il Tempo is a popular club in Montevideo that attracts a diverse crowd, including gay and bisexual guys, straight girls, lesbians, and sometimes straight guys. It starts as a bar before 1 am and becomes a lively dancefloor with DJs playing house and techno music and impressive drag shows. The nightlife was fun, but my favourite part of the trip was staying at Undarius.
Visit Montevideo’s cultural attractions like Solix Theatre, built in 1856 in the Italian Neo-classical style. It regularly stages operas, plays and symphonies; see the Plaza Independencia with the unique, turreted Palacio Salvo. Carnival time in Montevideo is from January to March when hundreds of performers dance in the Desfile de Llamadas.
An excursion to Iguazu Falls takes you away from Undarius Resort for a few days, but it’s worth seeing the world’s largest waterfall system, one of its seven natural wonders.
Now, Back to Undarius and Its Naked Boys
Down on the beach, we Undarius boys gathered at a rustic gay-friendly cafe to watch the sun go down. By a quirk of geography, the sun sets directly off-shore, sinking into the water, odd considering the Atlantic is to the east.
