I caught up with Wade Wolfgar to art, awards, and attracting attention.
The origin story
“The first time I was propositioned by a studio was half surprising, half surreal…” explains Wade. He first attracted the attention of the adult entertainment industry by posting dick pics on Twitter.
“The idea of being in porn had crossed my mind, but engaging with the reality of it was bizarre.”
“Since then, I always feel some level of surprise when any studio makes an effort to reach out, but mostly I’m just flattered.”

Award-winning action
“This is my first porn award…” says Wade, reflecting on his win for Hottest Flip at the recent Grabby Awards. Wade and Boomer Banks were recognised for their scene together in Resurgence – a production from Raw Fuck Club.
“I’m not exactly sure what it means for my career. I suppose it’s evidence that the scene was exceptional, but I’m not sure whether awards equate to more followers or future opportunities. If anything, I think it makes me more notable amongst my peers.”
“I am very grateful for the acknowledgement, and winning more awards in the future would be nice, but I think the fact that Raw Fuck Club invited me back, and that Boomer sought me out specifically, are more valuable accolades.”

The art
“To be honest, I haven’t painted anything of note in several months…” explains Wade, when I ask him about his art. Wade is an accomplished painter.
“I imagine that I’ll return to painting at some point, but I simply don’t feel motivated to make anything lately. I’m focusing on other things for the time being.”
“I think Keith Haring and I are quite different in substance, but there is some overlap…” counters Wade, when I compare his philosophy to groundbreaking queer artist Keith Haring. “I think we have both used words and iconography to tell a very personal story, which can then be applied to the world at large. I also think that we both look at the urban environment as a politicised space that is full of opportunities for unexpected forms of communication and beauty.”
“I have a hard time picking favourites, but some of my all-time favourite artists are Jean-Michel Basquiat, Salvador Dali, Steve Powers, Ryan Hewett, and Swoon.”

The underwear
“I have to be careful because I can easily spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on underwear and gear….” says Wade, when our conversation inevitably turns to underwear.
“Day-to-day, I usually wear briefs – 2eros is hands-down my favourite brand. At the gym, I usually wear a jockstrap or nothing – that’s not about comfort so much as I like to be just a little slutty when I’m working out. Occasionally, I will don a thong. I like anything that looks good and makes for a flattering and comfortable bulge.”
“The kind of underwear that I like on others is all in the attitude and knowing your body type. But jockstraps are probably the most sexy across the widest range of people – plus, they’re easy access!”

The way forward for Wade
“In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, I really don’t know what my short-term goals and aspirations are…” replies Wade, when I ask what’s on his agenda for the months ahead.
“In theory, I’d like to continue to work with Raging Stallion and grow my independent platforms. There are other studios that I’d like to work with, but living in Western Canada sometimes makes for financial and logistical barriers.”
“At the moment, I’m just trying to survive, maintain my mental and physical health, and be there for the people I care about.”
