I caught up with Ray Diesel to reflect on his inspirations, his underwear, and his plans for the future.
The origin story
“I’ve been watching porn since my young teens…” explains Ray, when I ask him what what led to him exploring a career in porn. “I’ve always been open to it. As I got older, I became friends with people in the industry.”
“Getting to know guys that were working in porn helped me to learn more about the industry, and gave me a behind-the-scenes understanding of how things work.”
“Nick Moretti and Cutler X are my biggest inspirations. They both kept a level head in this industry – they’re guys who realise that it’s just porn, there’s no need to have a big head about yourself. Both of them are also the sweetest guys – they’re always there for me, to listen and give good advice.”
Unleashing the exhibitionist
“I truly love doing live shows!” confirms Ray, when I compliment him on the energy that he brings to his live performances. “I’m somewhat of a exhibitionist when it comes to live shows – I want to entertain the crowd and get them excited.”
“I’ve done some shows where one of my friends is the DJ at the party. They’re often shocked at how free I am on stage, but I love it!”
The business of porn
“I’ve always enjoyed looking at the business side of it all…” says Ray, as our discussion turns to how he balances studio work with fan-subscription channel work, and the entrepreneurial skill-set required of today’s porn stars. “I’ve studied marketing, so I’m just pushing myself more and more to really get my name out there.”
He’s a briefs man
“I love me some underwear!” enthuses Ray, when the conversation inevitably turns to underwear. “Day-to-day, I generally just wear regular briefs. I’m not scared to wear bold colours or crazy prints. I like Andrew Christian – they’ve been doing really well with their brand. I’ll only wear big white briefs if I’m go-go dancing.”
“In the gym, I free-ball. I don’t see any point in wearing underwear underneath my shorts at the gym – it would just be a total sweat-up.”
Looking to the future
“My goal is to post more content to my JustFor.Fans and OnlyFans channels…” says Ray, when I ask him about his objectives for the months ahead. “I think I make good content – I just want everyone to see it and enjoy it.”
