Recently, she was named the 4th most influential celebrity of 2011 by Time Magazine. Between hosting the GLAAD Awards in LA and this (among many other events), it turns out she is indeed quite influential. The speech was extremely funny yet also very wise and poignant. She shared a wealth of advice from her own experiences, and really tried to give the graduates some things to think about as they step into the real world.

A new Thai airline is hiring transsexual ladyboys as flight attendants, aiming at a unique identity to set itself apart from competitors as it sets out for the skies.

Known as “katoeys” or “ladyboys,” transgenders and transsexuals have greater visibility in Thailand than in many other nations, holding mainstream jobs in a variety of fields. They are especially common in cosmetics shops or health stores, which almost always have a ladyboy shop assistant.

PC Air, a charter airline set to start operations on Asian routes in April, originally planned only to hire male and female flight attendants. But it changed its mind after receiving more than 100 job applications from transvestites and transsexuals.

Four were chosen, along with 19 female and 7 male flight attendants.

Oprah Winfrey ended her final show last night with a mention of her gay fans. The chatshow queen, who sobbed and laughed through her final hour, thanked viewers for their support over the last 25 years.

“I thank you for tuning in every day, along with your mothers and your sisters and your daughters, your partners, gay and otherwise,” she said.

“I thank you for being as much of a sweet inspiration for me as I’ve tried to be for you.”

Oprah, who is in a long-term relationship with a man, has been dogged by lesbian rumours over her relationship with best friend Gayle King. The pair have laughed off the gossip, saying they would not keep any romance secret.
