The second short film in “There Is Something I Want To Tell You” series, produced by MediaCom and HIV Foundation Queensland highlights the importance of getting tested and getting tested on a regular basis.

“An important part of the foundation’s strategy has been to deliver effective prevention and testing messages. By adding these real stories to our strategy we hope this can go some way to providing a real face to these important messages.” said HIV Foundation CEO, Tony Majer.

HIV infection rates in Queensland are on the rise. Research has shown that while the gay community as a whole is aware of safe sex messages, people choose not to use condoms for a variety of reasons.

  1. This video was very moving and I hope that more men get tested. The men in this video are very loving about their situations!!

  2. It took me 10 times before I made it to the end, wiping the tears from my eyes. I was one of the Stupid ones, everybody but me would get it, even after losing my Brother to it. Then 2 years later I was diagnosed with HIV and was lost in a little world of my own, and could not bring myself to believe it, so I had it taken 4 more times and always POZ. I can’t tell u how I made it through this time, but I finally came to, and went to a Gay Doctor and he told me I was not going to die, if I took care of myself, and ate right, slept enough, watch my drinking, which is pretty Nil, and always wear a condom and for anyone else to wear a condom so I do not feel like I took somebodies life with me. I’m okay now, and have been Undetectable the whole time, and My T-cells are 1400, which is like never being sick, so I’m doing all the right stuff. Just to all the guys who were, are, like me, it CAN happen to you, so get checked and often.

  3. I get tested every 3 months and more often if something happens that concerns me. Everyone should get tested regularly and perhaps we could start to contain the spread in the community.
