Queer Tours of London has just announced that the first global celebration of the George Michael Wants You party is coming to Hampstead Heath, London this weekend.
The goal of this party, founded by a coalition of London’s LGBTQI+ community, is to not only celebrate the inspiring life and talent of Queer icon George Michael, but to also thank him for his contributions to the LGBTQI+ community. The event date also marks the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in 1967, which was a momentous moment in our history.
Squirt.org is naturally an advocate for sexual freedom and exploration, and applauds George Michael on his relentlessness and courage in promoting sexual expression during a time when it was highly considered taboo.

actually George was conspicuously quiet in public during the early days of the AIDS Crisis. He did not come out in public until much later.

For fuck’s sake people, the man just died less than 3 1/2 MONTHS ago. And, maybe folks aren’t aware of this, but the man’s funeral was just a little over a week ago.
Remembering his life and talent is one thing, but using the event as an opportunity for cruising is just wrong this close to his death. His birthday is June 25–maybe THAT would’ve been a better time to highlight the “sex side” of George’s life.
My boyfriend once had sex with George Michael in a public restroom on the beach in L.A., and he will never forget it!
