  1. ALways love the vintage guys…they looked like real men! They didn’t shave themselves smooth…sculpt their crotches etc but let they let the hair grow where it’s supposed to! Give me a man from that era anytime!

  2. no charly69, you are not the only one, I don’t care for the vintage either. There is a reason I look at porn and it’s not for the “average” type guy, it’s for the fantasy! I enjoy looking at the perfect young male rippled with muscle definition. If I wanted to look at the “natural” type guy, I wouldn’t need to look at porn.

  3. the first pic and the last those beautiful black cocks look so good I would just love to suck them both dry.

  4. So nice to see men as men, not shaved not covered n tattoos and when men showed their bulging baskets for that tantalizing view of what’s in there

  5. For those of us who came of age in those days, it’s fun to look back. The first few worked at Bob Mizer’s AMG. #1 was Gerald Oglesby. Gerald just arrived as a stray one day at Bob’s and stayed for about 2 years. He could be a nice guy. He became a local hustler turning tricks, dancing at parties, posing for Bob or Bruce. He spent all his money on coke and other drugs and became violently unpredictable. Bob tossed him out and he disappeared into the streets. #2 on the St. Andrew’s cross and #7 with the cast was Tico Paterson who did porn as Tony Savage. He starred in a few, but was usually an extra in most. I forgot #4’s name, but this is a good example of Bob’s goofy improvising of props from what was on hand. Those poles he’s manacled to were the standards from the badminton set and the rings from the swing from the back lawn at his house/ studio. I never knew the name of the bearded cowboy, circa ’75, in the #28 trio, but he was a favorite model in S.F. of the late Victor Arimondi, a great photographer of gay men.

#9 is notable because of Kris Studios of Chicago. Few would recognize that name, but it was founded by the two gay legends Chuck Renslow and Dom Orejudos. Chuck was and is a leader in the gay world. Many of our rights and the groups that fought for them were founded by him. Dom, of course, was the gay artist, Etienne, contemporary with Tom of Finland and Quaintance. Chuck opened the very first gay leather bar, the Gold Coast, back in Chicago on Clark in 1958. He and Dom started Kris to shoot leather guys. They were both lifters and bought Triumph Gym and Health Studio in Chicago to workout and supply Kris with a steady stream of models to shoot. Besides Kris, Chuck also published Mars, Rawhide and others. Triumph was the gym’s house mag and concentrated primarily on lifting. Along with his extensive activism, he founded 2nd City Motorcycle Club, the first not on the west coast; a variety of other gay clubs including the Eagle Chicago and his personal birthday party morphed into Chicago’s “White Party”. His stories about the Chicago mob and their controlling the gay bars are hair raising, especially “Jimmy the Monk” Agleretti.

While at his gym he was the rep for AAU, Amateur Athletic Union, for Chicago and handled the greats of that time. That was before Joe Weider and his IFPB. His annual contest at the Gold Coast morphed into the IML, International Mr. Leather, which he founded in 1979. Eventually, Chuck and Dom decided to get out of the mag game and Chuck gave it to his old friend, Lou Thomas, who had a small studio along with his business partner, Jim French. They renamed the venture Target Studios. They continued together for several years. Lou would shoot photos and Jim would make his beautiful line drawings. Eventually, they parted. Lou continued publishing his work and Jim went on to found Colt Studios.

Chuck is still alive and active as ever on numerous boards. He’s a director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force as well as others he helped found. Etienne, his partner of over 40 years passed away in ’91.

To those who prefer today’s porn over the past, there was always good and bad then as now. Few have equalled the finesse of French’s Colt Studio in imaging the unobtainable sex gods he produced…fantasy at its ultimate. As for fantasy versus guys next door, you have to view porn through the eyes of that day. Porn was still often illegal or just so. There were few places to meet other gay men. Gay bars were often in seedy parts of town and raided. You just wanted to see other guys naked and in small towns that was probably the only way that was possible or safe. You didn’t worry about cock size or a worked out body so much. You we’re just happy there were other guys like you out there. Now, with the Net, what was once forbidden is common and everyone sports an 8″ cock. That’s unreal and is great fantasy , but causes many to feel inadequate, etc..

Vintage has its place in our collective past as a unique record of our history and change. The easy ability to enjoy porn today was pioneered by these early studios fighting for gay rights at large. We owe them a thanks.

  6. My friend in high school used to steal pics like these from under his brother’s bed. We’d go out into the woods to look at them because they were so “dirty”. Inevitably lust would overcome us. He gave me my first BJ. I lasted for about 3 head bobs!!

  7. Excellent record behairy. This sort of cultural anecdote will be lost unless it is recorded so please get it on paper sir!

  8. I’m with arthur12, the black guys are hot and a few of the white guys, one pic on here just reminded me of the very few fantasies i have left to accomplish….. TWINS, would love a 3sum with twins, anyone know any gay twins let me know 🙂
