The Humping Pact operates on the basis of missions: thematic threads unified by a common condition or location. Thanks to the community of our supporters, we travel around the world to find the locations that used to have or still have a lot of unrealized potential. We then bring our two bodies in relation to each sensitive spot on those beautiful artefacts of human persistence and attempt to release their potential through a mix of affective physicality and contemporary technology. The choice of humping in this case is dictated by the need of persistent meditation on transcending the futility of dedicated simulation. In other words, the energy is channeled from the space, through our bodies into the screen only if we suspend the pre-climax condition that never realizes itself in the orgasm. – THE HUMPING PACT

The palace of justice is one of the most important and beautiful landmarks in the city of Brussels. It was the biggest building built in the 19th century and it stands to this day as the silent witness of the state’s past grandeur. We dedicate this 5-minute long humping ritual, climatic loop that never comes to its orgasmic realization, to this beautiful monument.

  1. WEIRD doesn’t even begin to describe it. Even to attempt to explain it is beyond my reasoning. ITS JUST DUMB !

  2. Okay I studied art history I can understand the reasoning behind the video . But not to sure I get the REAL message and I always get the REAL message before anyone else . But in anycase I kind of like it .

  3. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen some dumb things. What’s even dumber is “The Humping Pact” description — stupidly written drivel, in my view. Somewhere there’s some college student who came up with all this while drunk off his ass, and he’s now laughing that same ass off at the fact that we’re even looking at — and trying to make sense of — it.

  4. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! I totally expected all the childish comments calling it dumb, bizzare, pointless, weird. Antyhing that has gay men thinking out of the box, is a threat to the order of things and that when they call it names. This is art. But then again…anything great has to first go through the name calling stage by those who are mentally stunted.

  5. Like a lot of avant-guarde art, it’s the “emperor’s new clothes” syndrome. Get a wild idea, get a trendsetter to declare it art, let the trendfollowers swoon over it and buy into it to show how intellectually hip they are and the “artists” laugh all the way to the bank! This interpretive dance meets preformance art is interesting for a moment..then it’s over. Go to their website..thehumpingpact.com and read their psychobabble mission statement. Then see that the Spanish Ministry of Finance hired a group called Transnomia who used these guys installations to illustrate Spain’s finacial troubles….well THERE is one of Spain’s spending problems right there! Makes Congress seem almost intellegent by contrast. The idiots that buy into this drivel make one nostalgic for forced sterilization.

  6. LMAO This is hilarious and it has an esoteric point to it all….

If you think beyond the primal desire to simply squirt your semen, once you have realised orgasm within your own head space – you can instead channel that realisation into alternative ways of expression. For instance, that powerful rush or feeling that accompanies all our male ejaculations….

Some science and logic for you boneheads who cannot think past pornography….

That is the point in lending artistic licence to sexual imagery and posturing….. there could be a breakdown in communications theory here….

The Europeans are masters of communication when you think about the language barrier and yet here, in this video which is less about pornography and instant gratification and more about expression of ideas of creation, there is the essence of high art juxtaposed onto the mass media platform which has an avid, opinionated and critical audience….

“who simply wish to watch any men fuck on camera without the need to analyse what they are really watching”

  7. If you look closely, you will see there is only actually two guys doing the humping in each picture and video! Took alot of work to put this together i would say. Its interesting in so many ways! The idea and thought and execution, that evokes an emotion or opinion either good or bad! The shock and outrage in some of the comments above are probably equal to when say Picasso or Dali or Pollack first displayed a piece!
I would have to say they achieved success!

  8. Okay I have been around the “art scene” my whole life . I have seen all different types of art works . Does anyone remember Andy Warhol ? He had stranger works . Such as a camera fixed to a building in New York for 8 hours . Everyone thought Salvador Dali’s work was nuts and weird. But I guess as “they” say art is in the eye of the beholder . Just saying .

  9. My two cents:
I do not get it on initial look. From a pragmatic view it could be perceived as meaningless. From a post-modern look it could mean almost anything and it seems this might be the better perspective; however, I am not sure I want to spend the time trying to figure this out.

  10. I love it! Fascinating to watch, and also quite horny as well. Would be even better if they were humping each other.. 😉 But I think it’s art if it makes you want to stop and pause for a while, and maybe even smile.

  11. There is more on the Humpingpact.com website… facinated to see the copenhagen page there, with women and children watching the show. Can you imagine that happening in the UK with our neurotic fucked-up attitudes to nudity and human sexuality?

  12. I like the work—and I do get a meaning out of this work, I especially like the piece done at the coal mine.

From having worked in my younger days in a variety of industrial settings like paper mills, machine shops and foundries—I always felt that there was a sort of primal, sexual aspect to all of the workings of such places, with big machines pounding, pumping, etc.

I think this work is cool and thanks for posting up this interesting spread–I am glad that you do post up things that go beyond the “obvious” when it comes to sexuality.

  13. What Edinnev above says about the UK—-the same thing holds true in the US—-no one would ever get permission in any city in the US to stage a large scale event of this kind—it would totally freak out all of the tea party types along with “soccer and hockey moms!” way too much.
