  1. Just saw a sneak preview at a director’s house last night….SPECTACULAR!! Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean and Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert are perfect casting. There was a interview/commentary film that accompanied the actual film for Academy members. Hugh said he trained just as hard for this as his Wolverine series. For this shot he lost 20lbs. and drank no water for 36hrs. prior to shooting for the gaunt look of a man who was just released from 19yrs. in prison. After that, he started training again and eating like a horse. Crowe looks equally hunky as a daddy type.
Jackman has always been a sports fanatic which shows in his great physique for a 44yo. For the 4th Wolverine he was bench pressing 300#. His equally athletic mate, Crowe was offered the Wolverine role first, but had just finished shooting “Gladiator” and was exhausted, so he suggested Jackman and the rest is history. Remember Crowe in those gladiator training scenes…Grrr!

These two studs certainly blow away the idea that men reach their prime in their early twenties… WOOF!! Now imagine being stuck in a French prison with Jackman as your cellmate for two decades…Ummmm…Wow!

  2. So when is he going to do the film of “The Boy from Oz” where he gets some man-on-man action? After the Broadway run he was hinting about a movie. I just want the Wolverine fans to see him sloppy-kissing with another guy.

  3. To Rexregum: Though Jackman got the ’04 Tony for his work in the “The Boy From Oz”, it was universally acknowledged that he saved the shallow and poorly written play by Ben Gannon. Considering Jackson’s stellar status, he’d never backpedal to do a such a problematic script. Gannon always hoped to do a film version, but few writers will admit their concept is poorly written, so it will languish indefinitely. As nostalgia for the 70’s fade, so will the interest in Peter Allen. The only hope will come from Australia where Allen is still a national hero and his “I Still Call Australia Home” is the informal national anthem. A film version by an Aussie producer could happen, but not with Jackman.
