9. Happy Independence Day to all! Amid the celebrations, don’t forget our Vets. Many are far from home, but still at a local base and would love to join your family BBQ…contact the base or local Vet organization for more info.

   I have to second Trunzo’s dislike of using a national flag in a disrespectful way…poor taste.
   Likewise, the Grey Mansion/Little Edie video was a poor choice and shameful chapter related to the First Family. Something else should have been chosen that better represents the qualities of the U.S. at large.
   Grey Mansion was the subject of a scandalous exposé in the National Enquirer(1971-2) of the mother/daughter, both named Edie Bouvier Beale (see the sign in the clip) living in squalor. The elder was was the aunt of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy and the daughter, the cousin of Jackie O. and Lee Radizwill. The dilapidated mansion in the East Hamptons was a scene out of Hoarders, the house filled with garbage, human filth and wild animals. Only after this became an embarrassment did Jackie and Lee come up with $32K to restore the roof, running water and a 1000 bags of garbage hauled away, etc and her 2 sons paid the back taxes. A documentary was made in 1976 ( the clip above) and a HBO film(2009) that won 6 Emmies and 2 Golden Globes. Shame on all concerned…that doesn’t represent the American spirit. Maybe this can be replaced with a better choice…
