PINK NEWS:
An Australian man with a Speedo fetish is being sued by the brand for breaching its copyright. Dave Evans, 24, is being sued by Speedo over a number of websites he owns which show men posing in – and out of – the skimpy swimwear. Speedo has filed a lawsuit against him at the Federal Court in Canberra.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the company says Mr Evans has threatened the good name and reputation of the brand and has broken its copyright. Speedo also says the nudity on the websites is “offensive” and is seeking an unspecified amount of damages. Mr Evans has refused to talk to the press but has written on his blog that he cannot afford a corporate lawyer for his defence.

He has suggested that Speedo has become a generic term like aspirin or zipper, which are brand names. On the introduction to one of his websites, he describes himself as a “bisexual guy” with a “huge speedo fetish”.

  1. Sorry, what? I lost track of what you were talking about after seeing those gorgeous eyes….

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. If this is allowed to go through, it’ll stir up so much shit. Next, Calvin Klein will object to their underwear being seen in porn, Levi’s will object to their name being used in erotic literature. All porn/erotica will have to include generic brand clothing lest they risk being attacked by a brand company for destroying the “reputation of the brand”

Funny that an underwear brand that was offensive, had a bad name, and no reputation when it premiered in a far more prudish world is complaing about nudity/erotica. Do they really expect us to believe that they object to pictures of hot men in their underwear? Last I checked, this is usually a massive selling point for all underwear brands. Slap some beefy sexy hunk in a tight g-string and every ten-stone bum will buy it hoping to look like the model.

  2. Speedo allowed and indeed encouraged the promulgation their swim wear under the nickname of budgiesmuggler. What was it smuggling and what did it think the budgie was? Speedo have to lose this case. The fact that gays have adopted it instead of straight Oz guys is irrelevant. Speedos have been part of Oz gay culture since the 1950s.

  3. I think it’s time to “BOYCOTT” Speedo for there stupid attitude, get over yourselves and leave the guy alone,if it wasn’t for gays speedos would not be anywhere as popular

  4. If Speedo wants to fight fashion crime, it should go after all those hair-in-the-wrong-places, over-the-hill, fat-bellied men who still think they look good in Speedos. Talk about “threatening the good name and reputation of the brand.”

The irony is, most of the guys who’d look terrific in Speedos wear those baggy, below-the-knees swim shorts.

I love it when companies use raw sex appeal to establish their product, then whine when they become successful and, suddenly, that sexiness is oh-so-naughty and “offensive.”

The same argument applies to the vaunted Abercrombie & Fitch, the studly clothing company (which also made and makes its name on displaying the charms of comely young lads) that has offered to pay “Jersey Shore’s” “The Situation” to NOT wear their clothes on TV.

Here’s an idea — let’s NOT pay our money to buy the products of these hypocrites.

  5. I wish him good luck. What’s wrong with these companies. He’s not destroying their product, he is giving them advertising.

  6. Speedo make crap swimwear these days, their ‘endurance’ line feels as smoothe as potato sacks to wear and swim in.
When they started out they had slick slippery fabrics that stretched, were affordable and in more colours than the mandatory black and dark blue
Better brands, better colours, better slippery silky smoothe fabric by other ‘speedo’ brands out there.
Speedo lost the plot years ago!
