20. I am so sick of this debate over tattoos. Tattoos are nothing more than 1 individuals personal expression. Just like piercings, the style of clothing they wear or even haircut and facial hair. 22. Great body! The use of the intense blue ink on that skin shade was inspired. My problem with tattoos is not the tats themselves, but the lack of understanding of the tattooist of the dynamics of his three dimensional canvas and exploiting it to the greatest effect. Here, the lateral tats and the wings above his pubes frame those great abs. The dragon on his left arm comes over his shoulder and follows the curve of his pec. Then suddenly, you have a rigid triangular crucifiction scene imposed on a trapezoidal right pec without regard to it’s shape or balance to the left design. It’s just awkward and a poor concept. Skin, unlike other mediums, doesn’t lend itself to corrections. You have one chance to do it right….this is what separates the master tattoo artist from the local amateur with some skills.
