Speculation over the true nature of James Dean’s sexuality has, of course, been rampant among movie critics and fans for decades. But now, a new biopic aims to cast a different light on the private life of the iconic “Rebel Without a Cause” star.
Directed by Matthew Mishory (hailed by French magazine Les Inrocks as “a new hope of American indie cinema,” according to IMDB), the upcoming “Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portait of James Dean” shows the actor (played by James Preston) making love to a male roommate (Dan Glenn) in a corridor, and in an intimate mountaintop embrace with yet another male character.
The film’s website touts “Joshua Tree” as “redefining James Dean for a new generation.”
My question is,is George Clooney Gay?
I’d like to see this movie. I wonder what the chances are that it will show in the states.
Even if he was, it no longer matters. Let the dead lie.
I hung out in Hollywood in those days… are you kidding about James Dean? His BF at the time was Sal Mineo, and Sal was devastated when Dean was killed in that crash. That was common knowledge all over town, even among straight people.
Does it matter?
@ric2001 You were, what? six when Dean died? You were just a baby during ‘those times’ and just getting in your teens during the 60’s. You don’t remember the 50’s well enough to form a honest opinion.
Mineo came out in the late 60’s. At no time did he discuss Dean or any relationship they may have had. Of couse he was devastated, he found out that a friend and collegue was killed.
It’s people like you with a ass-backwards and flippant disregard of fact that makes stories like this crop up. You were still wetting yourself when “Rebel without a Cause” was on the big screen. You don’t remember shit.
