Gabriel Phoenix is all the motivation we need

I caught up with Gabriel Phoenix to talk man-scaping, nude work-outs, and life after lock-down.

The origin story

“When I first got started, I was dating a porn actor who advised me on how to apply on the different platforms…” explains Gabriel, when I ask him what led him to explore a career in adult entertainment.

“I was lucky enough to be offered a shoot on the spot. It was a solo – it now seems so long ago!”

“I had a list of names that I was trying to choose from. I was rolling dice to put different combinations together and see how they worked. Gabriel Phoenix seemed to stick – it’s a play on my real name and the representation of reinvention itself.”

Man-scaping

“I have to say that I’m loving the retro looks that guys are sporting online during lock-down…” says Gabriel, when I ask him he’s given up on man-scaping while he’s stuck at home.

“I’m usually a bit wild and hairy – at least in terms of body hair. But, especially at this time, I think it’s important not to undervalue how we can feel revitalised by just a little bit of personal upkeep. We need to avoid an extreme Britney-breakdown.”

“I’m enjoying experimenting with a bit of extra body-hair. It makes me feel sexy. Like, who is this stranger in my mirror getting himself off?”

Fitness fantasies

“I’m in the process of putting together some naked workouts that I’ll be posting on Twitter…” confirms Gabriel, when I ask him about fitness tips. He’s known for his naked workouts.

“I feel a responsibility to help keep people entertained and motivated, and I wanted to provide some free content for people. Right now, there’s a lot of people who are unsure where their next paycheck will come from – I don’t want them to be unsure of their next orgasm.”

“Post lock-down, I’ll be conducting naked workouts at Sweatbox Soho – the gym and sauna in central London. Everyone’s welcome to come along and experience these first-hand.”

Sex on stage

“Performing on stage is honestly surreal…” says Gabriel, when I ask him about his impressive live performances. “I mean, I’ve always been boisterous as a character but in those moments on stage I really channel all of that energy. It’s like my mind changes and I feed off of the energy of the audience.”

“Believe it or not, before every show I’m nervous. That’s great, because it means I care about my performance – I’d be worried if I wasn’t a little nervous. But the second I emerge on that stage, I’m like a little powerhouse.”

Creating the character

“I adore acting…” confirms Gabriel, when I ask him about some of the on-screen characters that he’s brought to life and that fuel our fantasies. “It’s something that I always aspired to as a career, so I’m always really excited when I get to star in a role that has lots of b-roll and acting.”

“I’ve starred in a few educational indie shorts that have been shown at LGBTQ festivals around the world, as well as some music video projects for industry pals.”

“There’s a project in the works with Mickey Taylor which will include me in a huge part, I’m super-excited about it – I can’t wait to start work on it for him.”

Life after lock-down

“Listen, after this lock-down has lifted, if I can manage to fit through my front doorway then it will be a massive achievement in my books…” laughs Gabriel, when I ask him what his plans are for life in a post lock-down world.”

“In all seriousness, I think it’s going to be a frantic time trying to restore normality and I’m hoping this event will be a catalyst to inspire necessary change.”

“I’ll continue to work closely with the charitable causes that I currently support – trying to help those affected, as well as trying to help people to get back into a routine of physical and mental self-care.”

“Of course, I’m also planning a shit-load of sex. A shit-load! I think at this point, if I just held somebody’s hand I would jizz in my boxers – it’s been so long!”
