Dicks of any shape or size always get my attention, so a follow for the Twitter feed of LetsDrawDick is a no-brainer.
I caught up with LetsDrawDick for a behind-the-scenes look at his erotic masterpieces.
The origin story
“I’ve been artistic as long as I remember…” explains LetsDrawDick, when I ask how he began to pursue his passion for illustration.
“It’s always been a hobby and my favourite subject at school. I drew all the time, Doodles mostly. Cartoon characters.”
“I got into crafts doing small projects and went on to study art at college and university – painting, drawing, sculpture, and textiles – it’s always been a part of my life but it’s not where my career ended up.”
“I love art, but it has become a hobby. There’s not enough time in the day for me to do everything I’d like to do with it.”
Heroes and inspirations
“BearWithLee is one of my favourite artists…” says LetsDrawDick, when we talk about his art heroes and inspirations.
“BearWithLee’s work captures themes that inspire me and his style of artwork is something I wish I had half the talent to achieve. Plus, he always encourages me and is there to discuss and give his opinion on my work.”
“Being able to communicate directly with someone who has similar interests in regards to our artwork has been a pleasure. Knowing that a piece of my artwork hangs pride of place in his bog makes my day.”
The desire to draw dicks
“When I went to university, it allowed me to go all out on my art…” says LetsDrawDick, reflecting on his artistic journey.
“I didn’t feel restricted by briefs set by someone else. As I entered my second year, I finally decided to explore what was personal to me – at the time, sex was everything I was interested in.”
“I explored my interest in porn – how art could be viewed as porn and at what point does it cross that line, if it actually does.”
“Over time, it’s become less about that and just more about diversity, I suppose – not just in dicks, but men.”
“I might focus on the cock as a starting point but it’s more about the male form.”
Deciding on the dicks to draw
Every dick that I draw belongs to a real person…” confirms LetsDrawDicks, when I ask about how he approaches his subject matter.
“I usually post out on Twitter asking for guys that are interested. Twitter is full of alt accounts – people are more comfortable sharing their nudes with the world and interacting with each other. It’s never a struggle to find someone wanting to be drawn.”
“Some people I will reach out to. If I see a picture that looks perfect for my style then I’ll give it a go and surprise the person. It’s always gone down well, so far.”
“If anyone is interested, send me a message on Twitter. Be direct – if you want a picture, ask for one.”
“I will draw anyone who is over 18. That’s all genders, ethnicities, body types. Let’s make some art together!”
“I just ask that the pictures you send to me are clear – not taken in the dark, not out of focus. I want to be able to see the details. Also, don’t be offended if I ask for a different photo, I like options.”
“I’ve also recently started offering my artwork on a pay what you think it’s worth basis. Many people might think that artwork is out of their price range. This way of working allows those who want to support me to be able to do so within their budget and to also have a custom piece of artwork. It’s them! Just pay what you think my time is worth.”
The detail is in the dick
“Some are easier to draw than others…” confirms LetsDrawDick, as we get into the technicalities of the process.
“The more interesting the dick, the better – big doesn’t mean more interesting.”
“I like to capture details like body hair, wrinkles in the foreskin, or circumcision scars. I’ve had guys send me dick pics that just don’t show off their cocks very well for what I’m doing.
“Grab your cock, engage with it. Those with a foreskin have multiple options, covered, pulled back or half way over the head. Leaking precum. Cock rings. Piercings. Sex toys. Underwear.”
“I draw more than just genitals. I like to explore a variety of bodies. I find curves always a joy to draw, as rounded soft edges work really well. That can be curves of legs, the balls, the arse, a belly.”
“Rather than just standing straight on, facing the camera, guys that strike interesting poses give me more to work with. One of my most recent drawings was of a guy who was upside down.”
Dream dicks
“Seth Rogan!” replies LetsDrawDick, when I ask him which guys are on his wish-list of dicks to draw.
“I highly doubt a celebrity is going to stumble upon my work and request a dick drawing, but I’d love that.”
“Those involved in the alt Twitter world, I imagine they mix in the same circles on there. I’m often engaging with guys whose friends follow me and that has helped me hit a wider audience – they see someone they’ve interacted with have a drawing and then they request one.”
“The more variety the better! I go through phases, depending on who I’ve drawn recently. If I draw a guy in pup gear, I’ll get lots of pups message me. So, every once in a while, I’ll try and find someone myself that hits a different type of person that would hopefully attract more variety.”
“That said, if every pup on the planet messaged me, that’s great – it still provides me with so much diversity.”
Dick desires
“My aim is that people will feel confident – especially the person I’ve drawn…” says LetsDrawDick, when I ask what he hopes that people feel when they look at his drawings.
“I want them to enjoy the drawing and really appreciate how amazing they and their bodies are. I want my work to encourage others who may have a similar build, or fetish to want to show off themselves.”
“I want my artwork to appeal to such a wide audience, and I want them to participate. I hope it encourages people to want to model for me. I enjoy drawing dicks but you don’t have to reveal your dangly bits.”
“I want it to make other creatives want to collaborate with me on projects – other artists, photographers, and authors. Get in touch. Let’s work together!”
Well done! I’d like to see the source material!
stupid segment here
Sounds like a great hobby. I’d enjoy looking at dicks, balls and arses as a hobby.
I really like the concept, great imagination and art. Keep the good work you are doing, and don’t pay attention to some stupid comments like the down_to_earth_man over here.
interesting
One man’s stupid is another man’s genius … I’m curious why he wants to draw Seth Rogan.
I know, right? I’d be interested to see the results! Gareth.
