What is International Mr. Leather?
IML is probably the world’s largest leather and fetish event, bringing together gay and bisexual males from all walks of life for a weekend of fun, exploration, and community.
IML was founded in 1979 as a small gathering of leather enthusiasts in Chicago. While retaining the inclusive spirit of those early days, IML has now grown into an annual event that attracts thousands of men from all around the world.
When is IML in 2023?
The 2023 edition of the International Mr. Leather event will be held from 25 May until 29 May at Chicago’s Congress Hotel and Convention Center.
What Happens at IML?
IML is a celebration of all things leather and fetish. You can expect to see a wide range of people and interests represented at the event – showcasing kinks and fetishes of all descriptions.
The event programme includes workshops, demonstrations, parties, and play spaces.
There’s also the awarding of the title of International Mr. Leather. There’s always a lot of top-drawer contenders from around the world who have come to Chicago to snatch the crown.

What Events Can I Expect At International Mr. Leather
In addition to the many workshops, contests, and parties that are happening throughout the weekend, here are some of the events that you can expect at IML this year:
- The Opening Ceremonies: This is the official start of IML and is your chance to greet the meat.
- The Leather Market: This is your one-stop shop for all your leather and fetish needs, so be sure to bring your wallet – it takes place across the five days of the event.
- The Mr. Leather Contest: This is the main event of IML, where contestants from all over the world compete for the title of International Mr. Leather.
- The Victory Party: Sunday’s music party at The House of Blues is about dancing and letting loose, where you can meet more men and wear your hottest leather gear.
- The Black and Blue Ball: This is your “no camera, no phones” party; with the expectation that you can get all the gay sex in Chicago you crave if you’re travelling for this event.
- The Closing Ceremonies: This is your chance to say goodbye to all the new friends you’ve made over the weekend and to start planning for next year’s IML.
- Don’t forget – you also have the city to take advantage of, which has plenty of gay bars in Chicago, so you can find what gets you hot and horny as plenty of men will be hanging out in the city beyond just the event.
