Dolf Dietrich transforms from insatiable pig porn star to mild-mannered advertising exec

Gay porn superstar, Dolf Dietrich, has recently announced that he’s retiring from porn and moving back into the corporate world of advertising.

I caught up with Dolf to reflect on his career in porn and what the next chapter holds for him.

Are you surprised that you’re moving back into corporate life, or was this something that you’ve been thinking about for a while?

I’ve been contemplating a return to the advertising industry for a few years now. Dolf Dietrich was a creation that began when I was doing freelance advertising design work from home. I was horny and browsing porn in between work – trying to clear my mind. I came across an advert for ‘webcam from home’ and voila! Dolf was born.

I did the design work for four years concurrently while Dolf’s popularly was rising. The past three years were solely dedicated to the busy schedule of Dolf Dietrich, which was amazing, but I definitely missed being a Creative Director.

You’ve got a series of farewell-from-porn events planned over the next few months. Which ones are you looking forward to the most?

I’m actually on my way to my one as we speak! I’m headed to Providence to host their Gay Pride. It’s been one of my favorite long-standing gigs over the years.

But my big blowout will be on 13-14 July. I’m hosting my final event as Dolf – it’s called ‘Wet ‘n Hot’ in Palm Springs, which is one of my favorite cities that I’ve worked in.

Also, that weekend my dear friend and sexy colleague Brian Davilla will be hosting a private retirement party for me with a porn star guest list from my entire career – everyone from Hans Berlin, to Rocco Steele, Cutler X, Drew Sebastian, and many, many more. It’s going to be a legendary party. Those who can’t make it are sending video tributes from across the world – from Chi Chi LaRue, to my friend Alec Mapa From Hollywood, and the legendary daddy that is Dallas Steele

You’ve achieved a dramatic physical transformation over the last 10 years. Will you be changing your image as you return to corporate life?

It will be more difficult to hit the gym six days a week, like I did at the height of my porn career. On the upside, I’ve been eating cake and lots of carbs and I’m not gaining weight! But, while I accept my body will change, I will never stop going to the gym. Also, I’ll still be an insatiable pig in my private life. So, guys, you never know – it could be Dolf Dietrich on the other side of that Glory Hole!

You’ve talked about anxiety, and you’ve been a strong advocate for talking openly about how we all struggle with mental health issues. How big an issue is mental health for guys working in gay porn?

Sadly, I just heard of the loss of another young performer as I was on my way to the airport this morning. This industry can chew you up and spit you out – if you choose this career path you need to be a strong individual. I hope to continue to be an advocate about mental health in this industry, I’m still figuring out how to incorporate that into my life post- Dolf.

When you reflect on your porn career, what have been some of the highlights?

Meeting my husband on set is the top highlight. Before Hugh, I also met a wonderful man on set and we had a passionate wonderful romance for a year, and it was wonderful. Plus, it’s the friends that I’ve made that has been a blessing – people that I’ll know for the rest of my life.

I’ve filmed and performed all over the planet – from Berlin to New Orleans, Tel Aviv to the country of Panama – and I’m so lucky to have seen and visited parts of the world I never would have otherwise. Of course, there was also all of the sex with some of the most beautiful men in the world. That was pretty awesome too.

What are some of your goals and aspirations for the months ahead?

I’m employed at a very cool media and communications firm as Design Director. I’m concentrating on acing my job every day, and managing a great team. I work on being a great leader every day.

I’ll also continually be working on being a great husband to Hugh, and a great Dad to our two rescue Chihuahuas – Tiger and Mac ‘n Cheese.

Hugh and I want to buy a house someday in the next few years, so we can grow old next to each other in rocking chairs on a big porch.
