Max Adonis is worthy of worship

I caught up with Max Adonis to talk diet, underwear, and being on the right side of history.

The origin story

“I think I started exploring a career in porn because I had a hole that needed to be filled…” explains Max, when I ask him how he got his start in the industry. “A metaphorical hole!”

“It started when I was quite young. When I was watching porn, I’d imagine that it was myself in the video. I was wishing it was me. I just figured that everyone felt this way. Once I realised that I wasn’t normal, I took the leap.”

Heroes and inspirations

“My heroes are my amazing brothers who refuse to live the party lifestyle that typically goes hand-in-hand with porn…” replies Max, when I ask him about his inspirations in the industry.

“We lose so many of our own to drugs and mental health issues – it’s very upsetting.”

“We are a community – I love those who reach out for help. You’re not alone. I promise.”

The business of porn

“I’m so thankful to have entered the industry at this time…” says Max, when I ask him if he enjoys the entrepreneurial side of the adult entertainment business.

“We’re closer to our fans than ever before. I couldn’t make a living from studio pay, I don’t think any of us could.”

“My strategy is to never treat my audience as cash pigs. I think that’s so disrespectful. They deserve quality content and my commitment is to making that content.”

Meat free

“It will be five years this November since I went vegan…” confirms Max, when I ask him about his vegan diet.

“I made the connection when I was 25 – it truly changed my life for the better. I felt powerful – like I could change the world.”

“I don’t think I know any other gay porn stars who are vegan. I know a lesbian couple who dabble in OnlyFans who are vegan.”

“Generally, I find gay men are less likely to try plant-based options. They tend to believe the meat-makes-you-manly narrative. It’s that internal homophobia we all know and love. Add that to the unrealistic body expectations, and the lies and misinformation concerning a low-carb diet. It’s a recipe for disaster.”

“If someone is considering going vegan, my message is that knowledge is power. I have links – hit me up. Or watch The Game Changers – a documentary on Netflix.”

The underwear

“I love the boxer-brief style…” says Max, when our conversation inevitably turns to underwear.

“I don’t want to feel snug at all down there. I want my cock and balls to flop around. I want to create my own musky atmosphere down there.”

Fighting for the future

“My goals are to keep fighting for change in America…” explains Max, when I ask him what’s on his agenda in the months ahead.

“We are living history right now. I want to be on the right side of it.”

  1. Eh…I’ve known Max before he was Max and he’s not being entirely honest about his career path, but sure…let’s go with that. :\

    • Steady, blacktshirt – we don’t attach judgements to sex-work or working in the adult entertainment industry. People working in sex-positive professions play a really valuable role in our community and we respect everyone. Gareth.

    • So, you’d rather be in the closet, with the real possibility of losing your job and your home and your family if the truth ever came out? You’d rather face the possibility of living with someone for decades, making a home and when he died, you could lose everything because the law wouldn’t recognize your relationship? You’d rather risk being beaten or being arrested because you cruised the wrong guy at the wrong time in the wrong place?

Being able to live openly as a gay (or bisexual) person or a trans person and not risking everything over that “choice” is most certainly being on the “right side of history.” The fact that the “right side of history” also applies to civil rights for other minority groups (like African-American men not being targeted for the mere crime of “being black” or LEGAL immigrants not having to “show papers” just because they “look” illegal) doesn’t male the phrase wrong–unless you’re acknowledging that you happen to enjoy SOME sort of privilege (or you don’t want to acknowledge that others are, in fact, at a disadvantage when it comes to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”).

    • Oh, woe be unto he who has no knowledge of the Classics. If you had any such knowledge, you’d understand the use of “worship” here. (Incidentally, the word can simply mean “extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem”; you don’t have to build a religious shrine or engage in religious devotion to Max to “worship” him.)

      • Nice one, joeynmtgy8. I’m a bit obsessed with Greek Mythology. Adonis is generally described as a mortal man who was the lover of Aphrodite and was raised up to god-like status. He’s seen as the god of beauty, desire, and vegetation. To me, the name Adonis seems a perfect fit for a vegan porn-star. That’s someone I’m happy to worship. Gareth.
